How Roofing Contractors are Putting AI to Work
How roofing contractors are using AI to expand their reach and business trajectory.

A year ago, many roofing contractors were still asking whether artificial intelligence would have a place in their businesses. Today, the question is no longer if AI belongs in roofing—it's how you're using it.
The pace of change has been remarkable. According to a recent industry report covered by Roofing Contractor, 38% of contractors now report measurable business impact from AI, more than double the 17% who said the same just one year earlier. That's not a trend on the horizon; that's a transformation already underway.
AI is showing up across nearly every part of the contracting business. Companies are using it to create marketing content, strengthen branding, organize customer data, answer phones, qualify leads, improve customer service and streamline daily operations. Some are even leveraging AI for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and business analytics.
John Kiesel, president of Division 7 Roofing and Imagine Technologies Group, recently joined Mornings in the Lab with Keith, Jon & Friends LIVE to discuss AI’s growing role in storytelling. The episode even featured an AI-generated version of Kiesel, demonstrating how the technology can be used to create compelling, personalized content.
One example is Michigan-based JDR Unlimited, which used AI storytelling to announce its expansion from multifamily roofing into the single-family market across Southeast Michigan.
One article recently published on RoofingContractor.com, 11 Ways to Use AI in Your Roofing Business, highlighted practical applications ranging from 24/7 voice agents that book appointments to predictive marketing tools that help contractors identify potential customers before the competition does. The message was clear: AI is no longer a futuristic concept. It's becoming another tool in the toolbox.
Of course, roofing remains a relationship-driven business. AI won't replace the expertise, craftsmanship, and trust that successful contractors bring to every project. But it can help companies operate more efficiently, respond faster to customers, and make better-informed decisions.
At RC, we've been covering the growing role of AI because we believe this technology will continue to influence nearly every aspect of how roofing businesses operate. Whether you're embracing AI enthusiastically, cautiously experimenting, or still deciding where it fits, we'd like to hear from you.
How are you using AI in your business? What's working? What challenges have you encountered? What tools have delivered real value?
The best ideas in this industry have always come from contractors sharing what they've learned. Let's continue that conversation.
