The Best Roofing Leaders Never Stop Learning
The best leaders aren't those who already have all the answers, they're the ones who never stop asking questions

September has always felt like a season of fresh starts. Long after our school days are behind us, there's something about this time of year that reminds me to refocus, set new goals, pick the next leadership book and simply reset.
That mindset is especially important in roofing.
The most successful contractors I've met over the years have one thing in common: they never stop learning. They understand that while products and technology continue to evolve, leadership is what truly drives a business forward. The willingness to learn, adapt and challenge your own thinking is often what separates companies that simply survive from those that thrive.
That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about Best of Success! Every year, I look forward to bringing together speakers and industry leaders who share practical ideas contractors can take home and put to work. Whether it's improving operations, strengthening company culture, increasing profitability or developing the next generation of leaders.
Sometimes, those lessons come from unexpected places.
This year, one of our featured speakers, Billy Downs, has built successful brands in the hospitality industry. At first glance, restaurants and roofing may not seem to have much in common. But when you look closer, both industries rely on creating exceptional customer experiences, building strong teams and developing systems that allow businesses to grow. Great leadership isn't limited to one industry, it translates everywhere.
That's why I believe it's important to look beyond roofing to find new ideas. Some of the best lessons come from leaders who approach familiar challenges from a different perspective and encourage all of us to think differently about our own businesses.
As we head into the final months of the year, I encourage you to invest in yourself just as much as you invest in your company. Whether it's attending an industry event, participating in an NRCA meeting, reading a new book or simply having conversations with other contractors, every opportunity to learn is an opportunity to grow.
Because the best leaders aren't the ones who already have all the answers, they're the ones who never stop asking questions.
I hope to see many of you at Best of Success this fall as we continue learning from one another and moving our industry forward.
