Young Guns in Roofing

2026 Young Guns

Enhancing the Experience

Young Gun Victoria Ogrizek

VICTORIA OGRIZEK

March 3, 2026

Victoria Ogrizek, 39, came to roofing through marketing and brand reputation, not through the trades. But that outside perspective became her advantage. As customer experience officer at Home Genius Exteriors, working from the company's Streetsboro, Ohio, marketing headquarters, she's built systems to deliver what she calls a "true five-star experience at scale" across the company's nationwide operations.

With degrees from Denison University (BA in psychology and education) and Grand Canyon University (MBA), Ogrizek combines academic training in human behavior with business strategy to address what she sees as the industry's real challenge: helping homeowners navigate stressful moments with clear communication and genuine care. Her approach has turned customer experience from a buzzword into a competitive advantage—one that drives referrals and builds the kind of trust that allows rapid growth without sacrificing values.

When she's not thinking about roofing, she's usually still thinking about people—volunteering, traveling, or connecting with what she calls "cool humans doing cooler things." She's been married to her wife, Michelle, for more than 14 years and they share their home with two dogs, Mia and Frankie.

How long have you been in the roofing industry, and how did you get your start?

VO: I didn't start in roofing because I loved shingles—I started because I thought the experience could be better. I entered the home improvement industry through marketing, social media, and brand reputation, focused on clear communication, trust, and creating a true five-star experience at scale. What started as improving how the story was told quickly turned into improving how customers were treated and how communities were supported. Roofing became my platform for thinking bigger—about people, purpose, and what's possible when a company genuinely puts people first.

What are the top reasons why Home Genius Exteriors is successful?

Success doesn't come from doing one thing well—it comes from doing the right things consistently. Our success comes down to how we show up. At Home Genius Exteriors, we take care of people first—our customers, our teams, and the communities we serve. We communicate clearly so there are no surprises, we invest in safety and training so our people can do their best work, and we hold ourselves to a five-star standard even when no one is watching. That consistency builds trust. It builds pride. And it's what's allowed us to grow nationwide without losing the values that got us here in the first place.

What are the big challenges in your market, and how is the company addressing them?

VO: The real challenge in our market is simple: how do we make life easier for homeowners when something goes wrong? Most people reach out to a roofing company during a stressful moment—maybe after a storm, a leak, or a surprise inspection—when they're already juggling work, family, and everything else life throws at them. One homeowner recently told me, "Adulting is hard." That stuck with me. At Home Genius Exteriors, that's exactly what we aim to solve. We slow things down, explain what's happening in plain language, and handle the details so homeowners don't have to carry the weight of the process alone. When the experience feels manageable—even relieving—people naturally want to share it. That's why so many of our customers refer friends and family.

Victoria Ogrizek joined Home Genius Exteriors to strengthen the company’s brand story — and quickly expanded her impact to elevate the customer experience.

Do you see your age as an advantage or disadvantage in this business?

VO: I don't see age as a number, I see it as a bridge. I'm able to honor the experience and craftsmanship that built this industry while bringing modern thinking, empathy, and technology into how we operate today. That balance allows me to connect across generations and translate values into proven, scalable initiatives. At the end of the day, we are all just people who want to provide a different experience.

What area of the roofing business are you most passionate about?

VO: I see my age as a unique advantage in business, especially in a workforce that spans four very different generations. As a millennial, I'm right in the middle of that spectrum, which allows me to bridge the gap between the traditional ways of doing things and the new approaches that are reshaping industries. My generation understands the value of tradition and stability, but we also embrace disruption and technology, bringing new perspectives and ideas to the table. This balance helps us drive change while respecting the established practices that have made businesses successful.

What area of the roofing business are you most passionate about?

“No one remembers the spec sheet—they remember how you made them feel.”

VO: No one remembers the spec sheet—they remember how you made them feel. That's why I'm most passionate about the experience, and it's where Home Genius Exteriors truly stands apart. Anyone can install a roof, but not everyone can consistently deliver quality, care, and five-star outcomes at scale. Our focus is making life easier—so our Geniuses can do what they do best and our customers can get back to enjoying their homes instead of worrying about them. And honestly, who wouldn't want to be a Genius—or work alongside a team of Geniuses—helping redefine what a different experience in home improvement actually looks like?

What did you get from attending the Young Guns meeting at Best of Success?

VO: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, bring good people with you." Young Guns wasn't about job titles—it was about alignment. Being surrounded by peers who value people, integrity, and the bigger picture reinforced that the future of roofing belongs to leaders willing to listen, learn, and lead with purpose. It was refreshing, motivating, and exactly the kind of room you want to be in.

What’s next? What are your future plans for the business?

VO: I believe businesses can change lives when they're built the right way—and we're proving it every day. Steve Jobs once said, "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do," and that belief is woven into how we operate at Home Genius Exteriors. We don't just talk about impact—we deliver it by leading with trust, clear communication, and putting people first. The result is simple and powerful: customers who feel genuinely cared for, teams who show up as their best selves, and communities that are better because we're there. As we grow, our focus is clear—elevate people, provide a different experience, and bring more Geniuses with us—because where we're going matters, but who we bring along matters even more.
