In my role as a manager of facilities housing roofing and other building materials, one of the biggest pain points I encounter is finding reliable and flexible contractors — contractors of all kinds, ironically, except for roofing contractors, who typically work for my landlords.

 Tom Hanks in the movie “Forrest Gump” said, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.” 

 It has been my privilege to work in the roofing industry for more than 36 years, starting as an estimator in 1976.  

 While unemployment is at record highs, our customers constantly complain about the difficulty of finding good employees.

When a startling piece of news relating to the roof-contracting industry crosses my radar I have a tendency to jump on it, but it has taken me months to make a public mention on this topic.
