The Governors for the Scholarship Grant Committee are proud to announce the Michigan residents to recieve the 2026 Scholarship Grant: Luke Harrington, of Gibraltar; Cameron Kirk, of Taylor; Semaj Micou, of Warren; Grayce Owens, of Melvin; and Jadyn Read, of Rochester Hills. The Commercial Roofing Contractors of Southeastern Michigan, through the Southeastern Michigan Roofing Contractors Association (SMRCA), along with the Roofers Union Local #149, annually award college scholarships to dependents of employees of member roofing contractors.
Applicants were asked to submit an essay addressing one or more of the following topics: roofing technology, roofing safety, roofing impact or roofing ethics to the Joint Union/Contractor Scholarship Committee. Winners receive $1000 scholarships contributed by the SMRCA, Roofers Union Local #149 and the Contractor Employer.
The Scholarship Grant Program exemplifies the long-standing commitment of the SMRCA, Roofers Union Local #149, and their member contractors to invest in education and support the families of those working within the roofing industry. By encouraging continued education, the program reinforces the importance of workforce development and community growth within Southeastern Michigan.
