Monday, May 4, marks the 13th consecutive year of OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, a national campaign to increase safety awareness. Federal data shows that falls continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 389 of the 1,034 construction fatalities recorded in 2024.
This is at least the second widely reported roofing worker fatality from a fall this year. Johnny Fabbo Rosario, 38, died after falling through a roof panel during his shift atop an industrial facility near Mobile, Ala., in January.
