Co-founder Salyers named co-CEO

OpenbooQ, a technology-driven roofing platform, has launched operations in Dayton, Ohio, marking its first active market as the company begins a planned national expansion.
The company also announced that co-founder Patrick Salyers has been named Co-CEO, joining Michael Chesbrough in leading the business.
OpenbooQ operates as a direct-to-consumer roofing provider, managing projects from initial estimates through installation. The platform uses artificial intelligence to generate project estimates and connects homeowners directly with installation services.
The Dayton launch follows the company’s earlier debut of its digital roofing model, which aims to streamline the customer experience and reduce reliance on traditional sales-driven processes.
“We couldn’t think of a better place to launch OpenbooQ than right here in our hometown of Dayton, Ohio,” Salyers said. “Starting in our own backyard keeps us grounded in our community.”
Chesbrough said the company is focused on reshaping how roofing services are delivered. “We are setting out to fundamentally change the roofing industry,” he said.
The company said its model removes layers of markup commonly associated with traditional contracting, though it did not disclose broader financial details.
Salyers, previously the company’s chief financial officer, will oversee financial strategy and revenue operations, while Chesbrough will continue to lead technology development, operations and expansion efforts.
