OpenbooQ Launches DTC Roofing Platform
The online platform allows homeowners to design, quote and schedule a roof replacement without meeting with a commissioned sales representative

OpenbooQ, a Dayton, Ohio-based startup, will launch a direct-to-consumer roofing platform March 12, beginning with a beta rollout in its hometown and plans to expand to Texas before a national expansion within 18 months.
The online platform allows homeowners to design, price and schedule a roof replacement without meeting with a commissioned sales representative. According to the company, users can receive an AI-generated estimate in about 30 seconds. Pricing is presented as a line-item breakdown that includes material costs, standardized labor and a 10% platform fee.
OpenbooQ said materials are offered at wholesale cost with no markup, and each project includes an assigned project manager, quality control inspections and installation crews using body cameras. The company did not disclose pricing examples.
"Sitting at kitchen tables for years, I saw firsthand how unfair the traditional roofing model is to homeowners," said Michael Chesbrough, co-founder and CEO of OpenbooQ. "People are paying for layers of middleman markups and aggressive sales pitches instead of just paying for a good roof. We built OpenbooQ to cut the nonsense."
To support the launch, OpenbooQ secured an undisclosed investment and equity partnerships with ARTI, which is leading platform development, and Myosin, which will oversee marketing and customer acquisition.
In addition to Chesbrough, the company is led by Patrick Salyers, CFO; Alex Skelton, COO; Chuck Gamkong, CTO; Justin Fahey, CMO; and Angel Kimble, CPO.
