NRCA Addresses Mental Health Concerns for Roofing Contractors
The National Roofing Contractors Association’s 'Be Tough Enough' campaign builds momentum into 2026.

The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) continues to put a spotlight on suicide prevention and other ways to address mental health issues impacting the construction trades. Earlier this year, the NRCA led the charge in making mental health a safety priority by issuing a powerful video, “Be Tough Enough.”
The 60-second message tries to break the stigma often associated with roofing contractors and other construction professionals by encouraging workers who are struggling with something to speak up. It also depicts how roofing contractors can seek help, support each other and find ways through the most difficult times.
NRCA CEO McKay Daniels shared the video during his presentation at last week’s Best of Success conference in Dallas, and reminded the audience that it features real stories from the industry. He also reminded the crowd that true toughness also means knowing when to lean on others.
“Whether you want to talk about it or not, someone in your shop is struggling. And hearing that someone has your back can make a huge difference,” Daniels said from the stage.
The NRCA has a collection of free mental health resources for contractors to implement for employees at any level. They include toolbox talks, posters, support information, contacts and more.
