Surging Ahead: 2024's Top 150 Roofing Contractors, the Spotlights

We're highlighting just a few of the outstanding roofing contractors who made the 2024 Top 100 list.

With this year’s Top 100 expanded to 150, the editors had a wide range of contractors to celebrate. Every company on the list worked hard to earn a spot, whether it was strategic private equity investments, exploring marketing opportunities or diversifying their offerings.

We’re taking a closer look at a few of the companies that made this year’s list in the hopes that other contractors will be inspired by their strategies for success.

Baker Roofing Company

#7 Baker Roofing Company

LOCATION: Raleigh, N.C.

FOUNDED: 1915

SPECIALTY: One of the nation's largest and oldest roofing contractors, providing roofing restoration coatings and exterior services for residential and commercial.

EMPLOYEES: 1,200

2023 REVENUE: $320 million

2023 Was…? “Baker Roofing Company experienced increased financial performance across its primary business units. Moreover, the emergence of new markets enabled Baker Roofing Company to achieve additional revenue growth based on these market opportunities.,” said James Boyles, digital marketing manager.

How do you improve in 2024-25? “Baker Roofing Company anticipates sustained organic growth in emerging and established markets throughout 2024. The company also projects increased profitability driven by investments in new technologies to enhance efficiencies within current business operations,” said Boyles.

Priority Roofing

#21 Priority Roofing

LOCATION: Dallas, Texas

FOUNDED: 2016

SPECIALTY: Residential, designer and commercial roofing, including slate, clay, synthetic and metal roofing.

EMPLOYEES: 550

2023 REVENUE: $115.3 million

2023 Was…? “We did outstanding as a team! We exceeded above and beyond what our expectations were. Our goal was $90 million, and we [made] $115 million. I am so proud of the team that we have. Every member of our team performed exceptionally well,” said William Miller, owner and CEO.

How do you improve in 2024-25? “We are starting six new locations in 2024. We are launching a clay tile and slate division in Houston and … commercial in San Antonio,” said Miller.

Premier Roofing Company

#26 Premier Roofing Company

LOCATION: Denver, Colo.

FOUNDED: 2005

SPECIALTY: Residential, multi-family and steep-slope roofing for businesses

EMPLOYEES: 500

2023 REVENUE: $108 million

2023 Was…? “2023 marked the 17th year of consistent growth for Premier, a period in which our core business has grown at an astounding 31% CAGR,” said Andrea Grant, chief marketing officer.

How do you improve in 2024-25? “We have invested not only in hiring talented sales reps, but we have provided each with iPads with a custom sales app, which has not only provided these individuals more confidence but has given the homeowner more confidence in Premier – and in turn has increased our conversion rate,” said Grant.

#42 Farrell Roofing

LOCATION: Dunkirk, N.Y.

FOUNDED: 1946

SPECIALTY: Working on commercial and industrial roofing projects only.

2023 Was…? “Our 2023 financial performance was exceptional, but there is always room for growth,” said Jade Wells, communications and marketing manager.

How do you improve in 2024-25? “In the last year, we’ve dedicated employees in three different regions to solely focusing on sales and building relationships with customers,” Wells said. “Our corporate office has gained employees in the past year, bringing more efficiency to our accounting and safety departments, visibility to our marketing efforts, and improving our recruiting abilities.”

#64 Westfall Roofing

LOCATION: Tampa, Fla.

FOUNDED: 1989

SPECIALTY: Residential and commercial contractor with a specialization in residential, including asphalt, tile and metal.

EMPLOYEES: 250

2023 REVENUE: $47 million

2023 Was…? “Highest year in revenue ever in our company's history since 1989. Strong profits until Q4 when demand took a nose dive,” said Anissa Westfall, director of marketing and growth

How do you improve in 2024-25? “We increased marketing spend and added more awareness channels such as billboards and TV. We hired more sales reps,” said Westfall.

#83 Ridgeline Construction HSV, Inc.

LOCATION: Athens, Ala.

FOUNDED: 2009

SPECIALTY: New construction roofing, reroofs, insurance-related roofs, siding, gutters, downspouts, soffit, facia and columns.

EMPLOYEES: 47

2023 REVENUE: $35 million

2023 Was…? “A 10% increase in revenue from 2022 to 2023 is a significant achievement. It indicates positive growth and success for Ridgeline,” said Lauren Marsh, president.

How do you improve in 2024-25? “In 2023, we implemented new marketing and branding strategies to increase brand recognition for Ridgeline,” said Marsh. “With a goal of increasing our commercial job portfolio, we actively sought out such jobs and nurtured new relationships in this market. We also focused on job diversification.”
