SnapNrack, a manufacturer of solar mounting solutions and manufacturer CertainTeed, announced last week that they are partnering to provide more assurance and confidence when installing solar panels on residential roofs by offering complimentary solar, racking, asphalt shingle and workmanship warranties.

In a March 26 news release, SnapNrack and CertainTeed jointly introduced a solar panel and mounting option that does not void the asphalt shingle limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Under the partnership, a solar system installed with CertainTeed asphalt shingles, SnapNrack, and CertainTeed Solstice Panels will qualify for CertainTeed's Umbrella Coverage, provided a CertainTeed Solar credentialed contractor performs the installation.

“One of the most common questions people ask when deciding to go solar is, ‘Will this void my roof warranty?’ With this new program from CertainTeed, homeowners can confidently know that the answer to that question is a resounding ‘No’ when their system is installed with SnapNrack mounting hardware,” Andrew Wickham, director of Products & Engineering at SnapNrack^±, said.

CertainTeed's Umbrella Coverage covers the solar system and its asphalt shingles, eliminating warranty ‘finger pointing’ and offering a single point of contact to homeowners and installers.

With most standard solar installations, installers or homeowners must rely on three different manufacturers’ warranties for everything on the roof: the roofing material, the solar mounting system, and the solar panels. 

Through this new partnership, customers will experience a seamless warranty process. The entire rooftop solar system and the solar installation workmanship warranties are under one company. CertainTeed also backs both solar and CertainTeed asphalt shingles, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
