UPDATED 7/6/2020 with new date for 2021 conference

The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) is among the latest organizations that has canceled an upcoming conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an email sent out today, MRCA President Fred Horner announced the MRCA Board of Directors made the difficult decision to cancel the association's 71st Annual Conference & Expo, which was scheduled to take place Nov. 10-12 in Milwaukee, Wis. in light of the current and future impact of the pandemic.

"As important as this convention is to all of us, your safety and well-being is paramount to the MRCA," Horner said.

The MRCA will not be rescheduling the convention for 2020. Instead, it is encouraging attendees to mark their calendars for a 2021 MRCA Conference & Expo to be held Nov. 9-11, 2021. Horner said throughout 2020, the MRCA will continue to offer and expand on its practical and timely programs and resources.

"Even if we cannot physically be together, we can still offer strong support to one another through these challenges," he said.

The Milwaukee Hilton is automatically canceling existing hotel room reservations made in the MRCA's block of rooms for the expo. Sponsors and exhibitors will have their contracts and booths automatically transferred to the 2021 event.

Last year's conference, which took place in Overland Park, Kan., featured more than 190 companies exhibiting at the event as well as multiple educational and training opportunities.
