SPARKS, Md. — Active Minerals International (AMI) has fully recovered from a direct hit by the full force of Hurricane Michael, a Category 4 hurricane and the biggest storm to hit the Florida Panhandle in the last 150 years.

The manufacturing operations in Quincy, Fla. and Climax, Ga. had no consequential damage but were without power for a week.

As soon as possible, employees were in full force shipping as many orders as possible from a large inventory, despite the lack of power that presented hardships with no computers, manual paperwork and extreme high temperatures. Some specific shipments were limited by rail and truck services, hampered by road conditions, but these have now been fully restored.

“The mines have been fully operational this week and today electrical power was restored to the Quincy operation. The Climax plant started up today using a generator until full electrical power is restored tomorrow,” said Chuck T. Pettit, vice president of operations. “The advance planning from our Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan and swift action by local employees before the storm put us in a strong position to minimize damage and start-up quickly. We will be operating around the clock as needed.”
