SPRING HOUSE, Pa. -Rohm and Haas Co. announced that the company has initiated a cool roof program titled Coat It, You're Covered!™. The company's educational initiative is being launched in response to California's stricter building energy efficiency standards contained in Title 24, which took effect Oct. 1.

The program is designed specifically to help professionals in California's commercial building sector. It shows how and why acrylic roof coatings lower roof temperatures and energy loads on buildings, while, at the same time, they permit the use of the most frequently specified commercial roofing systems, including built-up roof (BUR), modified bitumen (mod-bit), EPDM and metal roof systems.

"Rohm and Haas products and solutions can help reduce energy consumption and achieve compliance with the new Title 24 regulations," said Bernadette Corujo, market manager for Rohm and Haas. "In simple terms, we make it easy for builders and contractors with this approach, since they won't have to replace their traditional roofing systems and materials to meet the Title 24 requirements. Architects and their roofing system consultants can specify for their customers seeking compliance a more simple roofing solution by ‘just coating it.' This solution is particularly appealing, given the favorable long-term exposure history which quality elastomeric roof coatings enjoy."

More detailed information on new Title 24 regulations is available at www.rooftopics.com.
