Key Takeaways
  • Founded in 2012, Home Pro Roofing operates and continues to grow in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and northern Indiana.
  • Home Pro Roofing plans to increase its staff of about 75 employees by 20% in 2027.
  • Founder Shannon Eifert and wife, Trisha, built a company with an emphasis on giving employees life-changing opportunities.
  • Crews are built for resiliency and work ethic, as the company specifically targets former high school wrestlers.

There are a lot of ways to become a successful roofing contractor in today’s evolving marketplace, but if there’s a formula for how to develop a growing enterprise from within, Home Pro Roofing may just have it.

Started in 2012 by Shannon Eifert and his wife, Trisha, Home Pro Roofing is headquartered in West Michigan and continues to grow in Ohio, Wisconsin, and northern Indiana. The company focuses primarily on residential roofing and does very little new construction, putting a premium on reroofing services in a seasonal marketplace. But the business model – and impact – appear to go much deeper.

The Eiferts build a company culture that gives employees more than just a career path, but a purpose that bleeds into personal development, said President Tim Lambert.

“Shannon and Trisha built a company with an emphasis on giving employees life-changing opportunities and cultivated the feeling that you work with and not for someone or a company,” said Lambert, who joined Home Pro Roofing in 2021 as a project consultant, before moving into a territory manager role.

From there, Lambert worked directly alongside Eifert as vice president of operations and then transitioned into his current role in January 2025.

Did You Know? Home Pro Roofing specifically hires former athletes -- and wrestlers, specifically. The team consists of 90% former wrestlers, and the organization takes great pride in bringing on more high-level, gritty talent that share that same mindset.

His development within the company is part of the fabric that makes the team go. It’s also led to rapid growth in just a short time. While in business for over a decade, the past few years have been fruitful. Officials said Home Pro Roofing is on pace to increase overall revenue generated by more than $23 million from 2024 to 2026.

Not Just Anybody

The company had 35 workers in 2024 and expanded to 75 this year. There are plans to increase by 20 percent by the end of next year.

In an era when workforce concerns are paramount for most roofers, Home Pro Roofing still prioritizes talent and coachability. A key component to Eifert’s success was that he sought after people with high working capacity matched with high character. And he paired that with a relentless focus on work ethic once they were in the fold.

A self-described “bad-ass” wrestler in high school, Eifert, chose a business model that reflected the same grit and no-quit mentality that made him a great competitor. Lambert said they found the qualities they were looking for in former athletes, and wrestlers, in particular. Today’s team consists of 90 percent former grapplers at some competitive level, and there are no apologies, Lambert said.

“Over the last 3 years we have taken those things that made us great, invested in the right people and infrastructure, and it has exponentially increased the opportunity and the success of this business,” Lambert said.

“There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not reminded of how grateful I am for the opportunity provided to me by this company, and the privilege it is to serve our team.”

The operations are split between roofing and other exteriors. Lambert said they take great pride in staying lean as a team with a home office consisting of customer service, operations, insurance estimating, accounting and the executive team. There’s also a service team dedicated to any needed warranty or paid repair work.

There are four quarterly safety meetings a year, and each new project consultant goes through six weeks of office and field training in addition to other training throughout the year.

That includes the typical off-season for roofers. Home Pro Roofing conducts 3-5 training in-service days in order to ‘keep the axe sharp’, Lambert said. It also helps prepare for the next peak season and implement improvements to more than just physical skills.

Sharing ideas, best practices and market differentiators is encouraged to elevate the roofing process and customer experience.

“Our team brings the mindset to relentlessly serve our customers, and that is how we train them,” Lambert explained. “Though you will not find a more competitive team, there isn’t a single person that won’t pick up the phone and share what’s working for them.”

Culture is King

“Over the last 3 years we have taken those things that made us great, invested in the right people and infrastructure, and it has exponentially increased the opportunity and the success of this business.” – Shannon Eifert

From the Eiferts to the leadership team and crew managers, the group strives to create an environment that’s unique, and simply too good to leave in order to go somewhere else, Lambert said.

Their structure allows for a competitive, yet magnetic experience that keeps employees close. A recent partnership with Aligned Exteriors Group (AEG) – a roofing platform with five other roofing residential roofing companies – allowed Home Pro Roofing to offer full health, dental, vision and 401k benefits to full-time employees for the first time.

“We wanted to team up with someone who could pour fuel on the blazing fire that is Home Pro Roofing, and they did just that,” Eifert said of the AEG move. “Paired with our proprietary training and operational model, they’ve assisted in helping us get the resources so that we can just focus on growth and execution.”

Overall revenue growth since partnering was an additional 18% in 2025, year-over-year, and the company is on pace for over 60% year-over-year growth in 2026, he added.

High performance is also a mandatory part of the winning culture. Lambert said crews follow strict installation guidelines so that they consistently deliver a best-in-class roofing replacement. The model provides the training and oversight to both monitor and manage existing crews as well as bring on new high-level crews to move into new markets that serve more customers. Those strict requirements also roll into onboarding, so anyone cutting corners washes out.

While trying to cover a large territory across the upper Midwest, Home Pro Roofing does not rely on large-scale marketing campaigns to generate business. Leads come through building long-term value with customers that recognize the relentless work ethic and are willing to share it with neighbors, community groups and other networks.

“The strategy our business began with in 2012 continues to work in 2026 as we grow and enter into new markets across the GreatlLakes region,” Eifert said. “Marketing generated leads provides icing on the cake for us in terms of revenue, but we’re always pursuing more unique opportunities to funnel leads to our team and serve more customers where they’re at.”

With a mission to give extraordinary opportunities to ordinary people through roofing, there’s still an emphasis on keeping things simple. What makes the company special is both the unique business model and compensation structure that rewards hard work. When paired with hungry, driven workers who have high character and even higher motors, the customer wins.

“Our focus at Home Pro Roofing is to control the controllables,” Lambert said. “When you focus on your competition and focus on things you cannot control, you lose sight of the things you can. Our team keeps our eyes fixed on what makes us great, and then we attack it!”
