GAF-IBHS FORTIFIED Alliance Meets Major Milestones
The unique partnership launched last year to prepare roofing contractors for the next frontier of roof resiliency.
The unique partnership between GAF and the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) to create more resilient homes around the country is flourishing. Over the past year, the effort to get roofing contractors FORTIFIED certifications has led to 1,100 trained contractors and spread into 34 states.
“It’s where the market is going,” said Mike Thomas, director, learning & development at GAF. "Our contractors are telling us there’s a lot of homeowner fatigue, they’re tired of dealing with this year after year”
GAF-IBHS FORTIFIED Alliance
As another highly-anticipated storm season gets under way, RC brought representatives from GAF and IBHS back together to discuss how the FORTIFIED roofing movement continues to gain momentum in communities across the country. It’s also providing new opportunities for roofers to succeed. Listen to the exclusive conversation here.
Part of the initiative is to help FORTIFIED grow into expanding markets from coasts all the way to the Heartland. Earlier this month, the program surpassed 100,000 designations nationwide, marking a milestone for the storm-resilient construction and re-roofing standard. IBHS said adoption has accelerated in recent years, with more than half of all designations earned during the past three years.
RC invited officials from both organizations to discuss the success and how to keep the momentum going heading into storm season. Watch the video now.
