CertainTeed has introduced Flintlastic SA Cap CoolStar Ultra, a self-adhered modified bitumen cap sheet designed for low-slope commercial roofing. The product expands the company’s CoolStar Ultra portfolio by adding a high-reflectivity, Title 31-compliant option for projects requiring cool roof performance without torch application.

The membrane is available in a fire-resistant version for assemblies requiring a Class A fire rating and/or Class IV impact resistance. Both versions are listed with the Cool Roof Rating Council.

The system is applied using a self-adhered method that eliminates torches and asphalt kettles, reducing jobsite fumes and fire risks.

Installation requires a weighted roller, supporting faster application compared with traditional multi-ply modified bitumen and some single-ply systems, according to manufacturer testing.

The multi-ply configuration is intended to provide durability and long-term performance, while labor efficiencies may help offset higher material costs relative to single-ply roofing.

The new product complements existing CoolStar Ultra torch-applied systems and is aimed at contractors and building owners seeking code-compliant, energy-efficient roofing solutions in California and other regions with similar requirements.
