Florida Roofer Cited After Fatal Fall at Jobsite
Two men fell into an empty pool after slipping from the roof.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Federal safety officials have cited a Florida roofing contractor after a worker was killed and another seriously injured in a fall from a two-story residence in September 2025.
The U.S. Department of Labor said investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration found that two employees of Max Home Services LLC, operating as Pasat Roofing and Solar Energy, were installing a tarp on Sept. 24 when they slipped from the roof and fell into an empty pool.
One worker suffered fatal injuries and the other was seriously hurt, OSHA said. The agency determined the employer willfully allowed both workers to perform tasks at heights exceeding 20 feet without required fall protection.

OSHA also said the company failed to adequately train employees to recognize fall hazards and did not implement a hazard communication program for workers handling hazardous chemicals.
The agency issued one willful and two serious violations and proposed $172,324 in penalties.
The company is contesting the citations before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. OSHA said penalties and violations may be adjusted as the case proceeds.
