Roof Resurfacing Service Launches in Pennsylvania
Liqua-Roof adds a bonded granule layer intended to improve durability and weather resistance.

A roof resurfacing service is launching in Pittsburgh, offering homeowners an alternative to full roof replacement as aging asphalt shingles begin to deteriorate.
Liqua-Roof, introduced by entrepreneurs Eddie Agate and Michael Agate, uses a process designed to restore shingle surfaces by replacing lost granules and reinforcing existing materials. The company said the system can extend the life of a roof while avoiding the cost and disruption of a tear-off.
“We’re excited to introduce Liqua-Roof to homeowners across Pittsburgh,” said Eddie Agate, noting the approach aims to reduce expense and project time compared with traditional replacement.
The system differs from standard coatings by adding a bonded granule layer intended to improve durability and weather resistance. Company officials said testing shows increased impact resistance, though independent verification details were not provided.
“Granulock is what truly sets this system apart,” said Michael Agate. “We’re resurfacing it with granules that bond directly to the shingle surface.”

After a decade of development, the company now manufactures Liqua-Roof entirely in-house — a process that required not only mastering the product itself, but building the machinery to handle it. With that foundation in place, the company currently operates out of Pittsburgh, Columbus, Ohio, and Knoxville, Tenn., and is actively looking to expand its footprint across the United States and Canada.
The launch comes as contractors and homeowners face rising material costs and ongoing labor constraints. Industry data cited by the company estimates that 11 million to 13 million tons of roofing waste are sent to landfills annually in North America.
Founder Carmelo Marsala said the Pittsburgh expansion reflects growing demand for alternatives to replacement. “Homeowners now have access to resurfacing technology designed to extend roof life and reduce unnecessary replacement,” he said.
The service is targeted primarily at residential asphalt shingle roofs, with some commercial applications.
