Completing a roofing project in the middle of winter presents significant challenges, but Monroe Roofing has consistently embraced innovation to overcome even the harshest conditions. When tasked with re-roofing Lincoln Tech’s Denver, Colo., campus—home to cutting-edge training programs in automotive, diesel technology, HVAC, welding, and electric vehicle (EV) technology—the team sought a solution that would ensure both efficiency and durability in extreme climates, from freezing temperatures to high wind and hail that impact our region. That solution was Carlisle’s RapidLock system.

Overcoming Winter Roofing Challenges

Traditional roofing adhesives can be unreliable in cold weather, often requiring extensive heating and longer cure times, which can delay projects. Carlisle’s RapidLock (RL) system allowed Monroe Roofing to bypass these obstacles. This adhesive-free membrane attachment method offers the performance of a fully adhered EPDM or TPO system with the added strength of a FleeceBACK membrane. By utilizing VELCRO Brand Securable Solutions, the RapidLock system provides:
  • Over 20% labor savings compared to conventional adhesive-based roofing systems.
  • Over 10% faster installation over traditional FleeceBACK methods.
  • Reliable, high-performance adhesion without bonding agents, ensuring a durable and long-lasting solution even in extreme weather conditions.

A Record-Breaking Achievement

At 225,000 square feet, this project marked the largest RapidLock system installation in Colorado to date. Initially scheduled for a 30-person crew starting on January 14th, with an estimated completion date of March 11, Monroe Roofing finished ahead of schedule on March 5—despite 18 days of weather delays and the removal of two old systems.
This accomplishment wasn’t just about speed—it was about precision, efficiency, and adaptability. Executing this project under such demanding conditions reinforces Monroe Roofing’s reputation as an industry leader in innovation and problem-solving.

This project stands as a testament to what can be achieved when expert craftsmanship meets cutting-edge technology. By leveraging the RapidLock system, Monroe Roofing has set a new industry standard for winter roofing projects, proving that with the right approach, even the toughest conditions can be conquered.

Long-Term Protection and Financial Benefits

Beyond the efficiency and durability of the RapidLock system, Monroe Roofing’s use of a FleeceBACK system offers long-term protection and financial advantages for property owners:

• Up to a 3" hail warranty from the manufacturer, helping to reduce insurance premiums with most carriers.

• Lower out-of-pocket costs by extending the roof’s lifespan, minimizing the need for frequent replacements due to hail damage.

• Protection against rising material costs, ensuring financial stability as roofing expenses continue to increase.

• A 32-hour per year puncture protection service is included in the No Dollar Limit (NDL) Warranty, covering leaks from debris, HVAC contractors, or roof activity. This is especially beneficial for triple net leases and long-term roof protection.

At Monroe Roofing, the focus extends beyond just installing roofs—we engineer solutions that redefine industry expectations. Our commitment to excellence ensures that every project, no matter the challenges, is completed with durability, efficiency, and innovation at the forefront.
