Bachman’s Roofing Donates Roof to Breast Cancer Survivor
Efforts include raising funds for PA Breast Cancer Coalition

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pennsylvania-based Bachman’s Roofing donated a new roof to breast cancer survivor Teri Jensen-Sellers of Pottstown, Pa. Throughout October, the company will also match donations up to $10,000 for the PA Breast Cancer Coalition (PBCC) to support those affected by breast cancer throughout the state.
Jensen-Sellers’ story highlights both the life-saving benefits of regular screenings and the difficult challenges that can follow a diagnosis. A wife and mother of two teenage sons, she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ in late 2020 after routine testing. She went into remission in the fall of 2021 but faced infections and other complications that required five operations.
During her treatment, she had to take time off from her role as an adjunct social sciences professor and even required a home nurse for six weeks. The new roof on her Victorian home replaces a 15-year-old roof, saving her family a significant home repair project.
“I’m so grateful to Bachman’s for this gift,” said Jensen-Sellers. “This roof lifts a big worry and allows me to focus on building a brighter future for my family. I also hope my story encourages women to get screened and reminds those who are newly diagnosed that there’s hope.”
Nearly all breast cancers can be treated successfully if found early. When detected at its earliest stage, the five-year survival rate is 98.6%, according to the PBCC.

For more than 50 years, Bachman’s Roofing has operated in Pennsylvania. The company is committed to giving back, building stronger communities through initiatives that support local organizations, families and individuals in need.
“Teri’s perseverance inspired all of us at Bachman’s, and we wanted to help ease a major burden for her family while also offering hope to those battling breast cancer,” said Bachman’s Roofing Chief Operating Officer Andrew Hudson. “This is bigger than one roof, which is why we’re supporting the PA Breast Cancer Coalition and calling on our neighbors to join us in the fight by donating this month.”
The PBCC reports there are about 140,000 women in the state living with breast cancer, which is the leading cause of death for women ages 25 to 54. Founded in 1993 with the mission of “finding a cure now… so our daughters don’t have to,” the PBCC represents, supports and serves breast cancer survivors, thrivers, and their families across the state through education, advocacy and research grants.
"This act of kindness by Bachman's Roofing helps to cover a deserving breast cancer survivor in care, protection, and hope," said PA Breast Cancer Coalition President and Founder Pat Halpin-Murphy. "We are deeply grateful to Bachman's for understanding the true impact breast cancer can have on families across Pennsylvania. This new partnership amplifies the PBCC's outreach to survivors, offering the support and healing they deserve. Thank you, Bachman's!"
Bachman’s is inviting the public to donate to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, which the company will match dollar for dollar up to $10,000. Ninety-two cents of every dollar goes directly to programs and services.
