Founded in 1886, GAF is the world’s largest roofing and waterproofing company. The GAF brand promise is “We protect what matters most.” Through the company’s comprehensive portfolio of steep- and low-slope roofing systems, GAF builds its products to last, pioneering better solutions for homeowners, roofing professionals, building owners/managers, and architects, and implementing more sustainable practices for the industry.

GAF Steep-Slope Solutions

With a focus on contractor reputation and homeowner satisfaction, GAF has developed Advanced Protection® Shingle Technology, which provides the best combination of weight and performance that modern manufacturing technology can deliver. In fact, GAF performs thousands of individual tests in the making of their Advanced Protection® Shingles. GAF is also the first manufacturer to have all of its shingles meet ASTM D3161, Class F, 110 mph, and ASTM 7158, Class H, 150 mph — the industry’s two toughest wind resistance tests.

Leading brands include Timberline® Shingles, the No. 1-selling architectural shingles in North America. Professional installers have long relied on the rugged, dependable performance that only a Timberline® roof can offer.

With the rapidly increasing demand for upscale options, GAF also offers an extensive Lifetime* Designer Shingle line, including Glenwood® Shingles — the most authentic wood-shake-look shingles you can buy.

The company’s Contractor Program has been judged by many to be the most extensive business-building program in the industry, and even includes warranties that cover the contractor’s workmanship (see Golden Pledge® Limited Warranty and Silver Pledge™ Limited Warranty for complete coverage and restrictions). GAF also offers dozens of programs to help installers differentiate themselves from the competition and exclusive marketing materials to help contractors build their businesses.

GAF Low-Slope Solutions

The GAF goal is to help contractors build their businesses by matching the right roofing technology to their clients’ specific needs. The company offers many low-slope roofing technologies including repair and maintenance products and liquid membrane coating systems (often at half the cost of a new roof), as well as new roofing systems (BUR, MB, TPO, PVC, liquid-applied membranes, and composite systems). A high-performance TPO product, the EverGuard Extreme® brand, is available for use in solar and other extreme high-heat applications.

GAF offers a wide array of energy-smart options, some of which contribute toward satisfying Credits under LEED® v3 and LEED® v4, are ENERGY STAR® certified,** and/or can be used to comply with 2016 Title 24, Part 6, Cool Roof Requirements of the California Code of Regulations in order to take advantage of the growing interest in energy-saving white reflective roofing.

Special offerings include the WellRoof® Guarantee Extension through Certified Maintenance Professionals (extends a low-slope roof guarantee by up to 25 percent for free, as long as regular maintenance is performed; see the WellRoof® Guarantee Extension for complete requirements) and the All-American Pledge™ Roof Guarantee (the first NDL guarantee that covers both low- and steep-slope roofs on a single property).

GAF also features high-quality liquid-applied solutions under the StreetBond® brand for pavements and hardscapes. These liquid membrane products provide reflectivity for cool pavements, traffic marking for safety of both vehicles and pedestrians, and aesthetic performance.

GAF Energy

GAF Energy offers contractors a simple way to introduce the benefits of solar energy to homeowners. Solar energy system kits offer a simple, aesthetically pleasing, integrated solution that is installed at the time of a reroof, and customers can start saving money on electricity immediately.

The GAF Commercial Solar Program uses a proprietary transaction structure to provide a one-stop financing solution for the entire project. The program offers resources for designing, financing, and installing a new solar system along with a commercial roofing system.
