ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The W. P. Hickman Company announces that the William P. Hickman Welding Scholarship has been awarded to George Fowler, second-year student at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College.

The W. P. Hickman Company has awarded the William P. Hickman Welding Scholarship to a second-year student pursuing a Welding Technology Associate in Applied Science Degree at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. The scholarship is intended to cover the entire cost of the student’s tuition and books. Students must have a minimum of a B-average to apply for the scholarship. The Welding Technology curriculum at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College aims to provide students with a sound understanding of the science, technology, and applications essential for successful employment in the welding and metal industry.

“The W. P. Hickman Company has a tradition of craftsmanship in our long history. My grandfather invented the first manufactured metal roof edge and we are pleased to provide a scholarship in his name that supports an important skill that is critical to our industry,” expressed Scott Hickman, CEO, W.
