ASHVILLE, N.C. – The W. P. Hickman Company announces Permasnap 2 Coping has been reviewed and approved by the Florida Department of Community Affairs Building Codes and Standards for use in Florida. The Florida Certificate of Product Approval # is FL7424.
The design of the Permasnap 2 Coping has been specifically engineered to meet the requirements of the recently developed SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1, Wind Design Standard for Edge Systems Used with Low-Slope Roofing Systems. Permasnap 2 Coping has been tested and Classified by Underwriters Laboratory to meet the SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 Roof Edge Standard. Now, in addition, the product application, FL 7424-R4, submitted by W. P. Hickman Co. on the Florida Building Code Information System, has been set to a status of Approved, allowing the product to be used on buildings throughout the state.
“We are extremely pleased at how rapidly we have achieved the proper certifications for the newest generation of our flagship product,” said Adam Demchak, P.E., Hickman’s Engineering Manager. “Florida has tough standards with regard to wind and we wanted Product Approval for Permasnap 2.” The design yields higher ES-1 test results when compared to the previous design.
Permasnap 2 also installs more easily, provides improved aesthetics and is offered at a lower price point. Permasnap 2 Coping is a snap-on system allowing for easy installation, concealed fasteners, and interior splice plates requiring no sealant that permit full thermal cycle movement at each joint without compromising perimeter roof integrity. The profile incorporates a new spring clip design that provides strong uplift performance.
