W. P. Hickman Company Announces Improved Permasnap 2 Coping

March 7, 2011
The W. P. Hickman Company announced the immediate availability of the new Permasnap 2 Coping product line. The design of the coping has been specifically engineered to meet the requirements of the recently developed SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1, Wind Design Standard for Edge Systems Used with Low-Slope Roofing Systems.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The W.

Permasnap 2 Coping has been tested and Classified by Underwriters Laboratory® to meet the SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 Roof Edge Standard and yields higher ES-1 test results when compared to the previous design. Permasnap 2 will also install more easily, provide improved aesthetics and is offered at a lower price point.

“In redesigning one of our flagship products we wanted not only to meet the new ES-1 standard but to enhance it in every way that we could,” said Adam Demchak, Lead Design Engineer. “The new standard includes a safety factor. Our design will meet the current ANSI/SPRI ES-1 standard required by the International Building Code and the next generation of the standard.”

Permasnap 2 Coping is a snap-on system allowing for easy installation, concealed fasteners, and interior splice plates requiring no sealant that permit full thermal cycle movement at each joint without compromising perimeter roof integrity. The profile incorporates a new spring clip design that provides strong uplift performance. The cleats are notched to provide a visual and tactile reference for placement and proper alignment of splice plates. Cleats are also pre-punched and stainless steel fasteners are supplied for proper attachment and expedited installation. Factory fabricated corners, end caps, and accessories are available as part of the coping system. Permasnap 2 can be fabricated in fully welded radiuses to fit curved or arched walls.
