A roll-roofing standard developed by ASTM International in 2001 covers requirements and testing for smooth, granulated and wide-selvage roll roofing. ASTM D 6380, Standard Specification for Asphalt Roll Roofing (Organic Felt), replaces three separate standards that ASTM discontinued this year:

D 224 Standard Specification for Smooth-Surfaced Asphalt Roll Roofing (Organic Felt)

D 249 Standard Specification for Asphalt Roll Roofing (Organic Felt) Surfaced with Mineral Granules

D 371 Standard Specification for Asphalt Roll Roofing (Organic Felt) Surfaced with Mineral Granules; Wide Selvage.

Members of ASTM Committee D08 on Roofing, Waterproofing and Bituminous Materials developed the roll-roofing combination Standard D 6380 in 1999 and re-approved it in 2001. The newer standard not only combines the three separate items but is also enhanced by new tests and mass specifications.
