Community members can nominate homeowners through AVR’s website. The selected recipient will receive a replacement matching the home’s existing roofing type, either asphalt or metal.

AVR also said it will donate $25 to Project New Hope for every qualified nomination submitted. The nonprofit supports veterans, active-duty service members and their families through wellness retreats, emergency financial assistance, food pantries and other programs.

“Launching our newest location by giving away a roof to a homeowner in need and supporting local veterans reflects exactly who we are as a company,” said founder and owner Adam Vaillancourt.

Founded in 2004, AVR serves residential and commercial customers across 87 New England communities. The company provides roof inspections, repairs and replacements for asphalt shingle, metal and low-slope systems, along with storm damage repairs, skylights, gutters and other exterior services.

Leading the company’s expansion into Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut is Market Development Manager Wes Melaas, a U.S. Navy veteran with experience in roofing, retail and home improvement.

“As a veteran, supporting those who have served our country is deeply personal to me, which makes this initiative an especially meaningful way to introduce ourselves to the community,” Melaas said.

AVR said it will review nominations after the Sept. 30 deadline and select one homeowner to receive the donated roof.
