OSHA Training Tour Targets Roofing Safety
Free sessions planned in multiple cities.

National Women in Roofing (NWIR) leaders and OSHA compliance assistance specialists are coordinating a training tour to provide free safety instruction for roofing professionals in English and Spanish.
The OSHA Training Tour is being organized with Diana Barriga, Latino Leadership chair for NWIR Central Florida and co-chair of NWIR Conexión Hispana, along with OSHA compliance assistance specialists Yvis Torres-Gilot and Leny Chango.
The sessions will cover fall protection, heat illness prevention, personal protective equipment, hazard recognition, OSHA inspections and other safety topics. Organizers said the program is intended to expand access to safety education, including for Hispanic roofing workers.
Scheduled sessions include:
- Aug. 18 in Orlando, Florida, in Spanish at ABC Supply
- Aug. 28 in Fort Myers, Florida, in English at the Westlake Royal Building Products Design Center.
- Aug. 28 in Fort Myers in Spanish at Alsteel Manufacturer.
- A September session is planned in Jacksonville, Florida, in Spanish at SRS Distribution.
Additional stops are being planned for Tampa, Florida; Maryland; and Texas, according to the announcement.
