FLASH Weather AI Launches Hail Forecast Tool
Model offers earlier job-site storm warnings.

FLASH Weather AI has launched a new hail prediction model that could help roofing contractors make faster decisions before severe weather reaches a job site.
The company said its new 1-Hour Hail Swath Prediction Model, a deep-learning weather product can forecast hail size and arrival time at 1-kilometer resolution, with updates every 5 minutes and lead times of up to 55 minutes.
For roofing contractors, that could mean additional time to stop tear-offs, cover exposed areas, secure materials and reposition crews and equipment when hail is approaching.
The company said the model was trained on U.S. convective storm data from 2021 through 2024 and generates deterministic forecasts of hail size in inches or millimeters, down to the hundredth of an inch.
FLASH Weather AI also introduced a companion Hail Arrival Time product that estimates when quarter-size or larger hail will reach a location within the forecast window, giving users another data point for go-or-no-go decisions in the field.
The company said the model completed a month of beta testing across multiple severe weather events, but detailed verification data was not disclosed.
The rollout begins this week through API access and the company’s Weather Command Center platform, with integration into the FLASH mobile app planned in the coming weeks.
