Labor Dept. Seeks AI Expansion in Apprenticeships
Effort targets workforce training programs

The U.S. Department of Labor announced a national contracting opportunity to expand artificial intelligence training within Registered Apprenticeship programs.
The initiative, led by the department’s Employment and Training Administration, aims to modernize apprenticeship models and strengthen workforce pipelines in industries such as telecommunications, data centers and advanced manufacturing.
“AI is transforming every industry, and our workforce systems must evolve just as quickly,” Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said.
The selected contractor will work with employers and workforce partners to develop AI-related curricula, support apprenticeship expansion and provide technical assistance across industries.
The effort also seeks to integrate AI skills into both emerging technology roles and traditional trades, as demand for workers with AI capabilities grows.
The Labor Department plans to award a single contract with a one-year base period and four option years. Proposals are being accepted through a solicitation posted on sam.gov.
