Advanced Roofing Becomes Employee-Owned as ESOP Takes Effect

Florida-based contractor adopts ESOP structure to stay independent and reinforce long-term stability for clients and employees

Advanced Roofing Inc. has transitioned to employee ownership, a move the Florida-based contractor says will bolster long-term stability, accountability and uninterrupted service for customers as the company heads into 2026.

The company, founded in 1983, said it is now structured as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), giving eligible team members an ownership stake in the business in addition to existing retirement benefits. Advanced Roofing said the shift is designed to reinforce shared responsibility across the organization—from field crews to project managers and support staff—while keeping its leadership and day-to-day operations in place.

“This milestone is about securing the future of the company while honoring the people who built it,” said Rob Kornahrens, founder and CEO of the Advanced family of businesses. “Employee ownership allows us to stay true to who we are — independent, client-focused, and committed to long-term relationships.”

Advanced Roofing framed the change as a deliberate alternative to a commercial construction market that has seen increased consolidation and private equity activity. By moving to an employee-owned model, the company said it intends to remain independent, preserve its culture and provide continuity for clients.

The Advanced family of businesses includes Advanced Roofing Inc., Advanced Air Systems—launched in 1994—and Advanced Green Technologies, established in 2007. The organization operates from seven locations across Florida and employs more than 750 people, providing commercial roofing, HVAC and solar services statewide.

Kornahrens said customers should see consistency rather than disruption, noting that the same leadership, service teams and project personnel will remain in place.

“Our ownership model may be new, but our standards are not,” he said. “Our clients will continue working with the same people, guided by the same values — now strengthened by an ownership mindset that encourages long-term thinking and care in every decision.”

The company said it will continue investing in safety, training and operational excellence as it delivers roofing, HVAC and solar solutions throughout Florida.
