Weather Shield Roofing Systems, a prominent name in the Great Lakes commercial roofing industry, celebrated the opening of the Weather Shield Life Center, a new holistic facility at the company’s Wyoming, Mich. headquarters last month.

Weather Shield celebrated by inviting guests to tour its 12,000-square-foot facility, which includes Weather Shield University “for hands, head and heart.” The center includes the company’s Skills Lab for roofing-specific training —“hands”— and a large classroom for knowledge and "wisdom" training—“head and heart.”

There is also a recreation room and gymnasium, which company officials say people are insisting be called “The Jim. " It includes a pickleball, basketball, indoor soccer court, exercise equipment, an indoor golf area and other equipment.

Additionally, there is a 6,000-square-foot “Great Room” that includes a coffee bar; sitting and meeting areas for collaborative working; a large, adaptable space with a portable stage and complete audio-visual equipment that the company says will accommodate groups of 10 to 200 people for gatherings of all kinds and; a smaller living room for intimate meetings and gatherings

On the second floor is “The Club,” an upstairs bar and lounge area for gatherings of up to 40 people, and “after-work drop-ins for our people to meet, socialize, watch a ball game, etc.,” the invite described.

The Patio is a connected outdoor space on the second floor. It has outdoor eating, sitting and working areas, as well as a fire pit, grill and outdoor pizza oven.

The firm's administrative and leadership office, The Nexus, is attached to the Life Center. Adjacent is the company’s new operations center, a two-floor building with office suites for the sales, installation and service teams. There is also warehouse space.
