At first glimpse a woman with high heels on a roof, and on the cover of the top roofing magazine in the United States, Roofing Contractor, might cause a stir.

Frankly, I’ve been in the business of saving the planet and I didn’t even know I was doing it.

Yesterday was the live presentation of our Architectural Roofing & Waterproofing webinar titled “Proper Drain Design,” conducted by ARW Editorial Director and Roofing Contractor technical columnist John D’Annunzio.

Many construction-related business owners and managers are aggressively managing their operations. They are cutting expenses, finding new efficiencies and improving their marketing effectiveness.

Spring has got to be my favorite time of the year. This despite having spent the first 44 years of my life in Florida where they say the seasons are barely detectible. Fact is, when I lived in the Sunshine State, spring was still my favorite time of year.

I have been on a rampage trying to kill the fax for years. And I am not so feeble that I can’t remember being on a rampage to get my boss to buy our first fax back in the early 80s. If you do not recall, the fax machine changed everything once it hit that “tipping point” where everyone in business had one. It was great and we could hardly wait to get one.

Despite the construction downturn, now might be the best time to join a professional association or organization. Doing so might provide you with marketing advantages that your competitors won’t have.
