Westlake Royal Roofing Solutions, a leader roofing systems and components, announced the launch of two all-new Unified Steel Stone Coated Roofing colors that the Cool Roof Rating Council has rated, including “Harborwood” and “Stirling Gray,” in both PINE-CREST Shake and PACIFIC tile profiles.

“These new colors expand our Cool Roof Color Collection, a range of cool-rated colors that help homes stay cooler in summer,” says Eric Miller, vice president of Sales for Westlake Royal Roofing Solutions. “These solutions also enhance the home’s curb appeal and provide homeowners with greater indoor comfort.”

In a September 13 news release, Westlake Royal said the new Unified Steel CRRC-rated colors are stone-coated steel roofing options that provide high solar reflectivity and high thermal emittance when solar energy hits the roof surface, detracting sunlight and radiating heat off the roof surface.

“Their Solar Reflective Index is higher, which means they effectively reduce the amount of heat absorbed by the roof and transferred down into the structure below,” adds Steve Booz, vice president of Marketing and Product Management. “Not only are energy bills meaningfully lowered with use of these products, but the roof’s lifespan is [extended].”

The company said both Harborwood and Stirling Grey exceed California Energy Code Title 24, Part 6 Cool Roof Requirements; with a Solar Reflective Index, or SRI, greater than 20, they also meet L.A. County’s more stringent SRI requirements.

Unified Steel Stone Coated Roofing is a lightweight option, weighing just 1.5 pounds per square foot and the material benefits from the structural strength of steel. Westlake says Unified Steel provides enhanced energy efficiency performance when paired with Above Sheathing Ventilation. 

All Unified Steel products are also ‘Very Severe Hail’ rated, offer a Class A Fire Rating (when used with designated accompanying underlay materials), and are ‘Hurricane Performance’ Rated with Miami-Dade County HVHZ Approval, the most stringent hurricane resistance standard in the country.

“Because of its performance attributes and lighter weight, Unified Steel is a popular choice for retrofits and new construction alike,” Booz said.

The newest colors join Westlake Royal Roofing Solutions’ wide range of cool roof color options for Concrete, Clay and Composite. They are offered in various profiles and hues to complement different architectural styles and preferences. 

In addition to Unified Steel Stone Coated Roofing options, cool roof colors are offered in the company’s Newpoint Concrete Roof Tile, US Tile Clay Roofing Products and DaVinci Roofscapes. The Cool Roof-rated Colors may also be paired with the Westlake Royal Cool Roof System, further enhancing the roof’s overall energy efficiency.
