The Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) is going back to its roots this year for its annual convention and expo, July 19-22, in Daytona.

Roughly a century ago, the organization’s founders conducted their first formal meeting there.

“We’re very excited to bring it back to Daytona … and celebrate FRSA’s 100th year. We have so much going on this year,” said FRSA Executive Director Lisa Pate in a brief videochat with RC Publisher Jill Bloom.

Pate said she and the FRSA leadership learned a lot about the organization’s 100-year history while preparing for this year’s celebration. That included learning that while a lot has changed in the roofing industry, contractors then were dealing with many of the same issues roofers face today. Namely, big issues like material scarcity, labor shortages and regulation.

“The same issues that were important 100 years ago are still important to those contractors even today,” said Pate, who’s been with the organization for 37 years.
