KANKAKEE, Ill. — IKO asked customers and contractors to help pick its color of the year and their top choice was Atlantic Blue.

Roofing industry insiders and consumers had the opportunity to take part in the 2019 IKO Voter’s Choice Poll. The submissions were an accumulation of a weeklong poll on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Votes were also submitted on site at the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Nashville.

Of the four color options, Atlantic Blue, Shadow Brown, Monaco Red and Emerald Green, Atlantic Blue was voted as the best shingle color for 2019 with 41.6 percent of votes. Shadow Brown landed in second place with almost 30 percent.

“Increasingly, homeowners are becoming more involved in each aspect of their home’s design, and contractors are providing their customers with more options,” said Mark Okland, product development manager, North America.

“IKO is committed to continually optimizing our product lines based on consumer demands and industry needs. With the addition of these four new colors, the Dynasty line now provides 15 color choices, and we’re excited to see how well received these new colors — particularly Atlantic Blue — are by our contractors and customers.”

According to IKO, Dynasty’s 15 high-definition color blends provide homeowners with superior shingle performance wrapped in a mainstream design. The full line features a tear-resistant band that helps resist nail heads from pulling through the shingle in high winds and Fastlock sealant strips formulated to create a strong bond to the shingles below.
