Product Focus On: Skylights and Daylighting for Roofing Contractors

daylighting and skylights
LUMIVENT • BILCO COMPANY

LUMIVENT • BILCO COMPANY

November 4, 2015

LEED PLATINUM • WASCO PRODUCTS INC.

The goal was to supply diffused natural light to key sections of a 50,000 square foot supermarket in Augusta, Maine while significantly reducing energy costs. Fifty-four 4’x4’ Wasco thermal unit skylights with Lumira® Aerogel filled polycarbonate panels were installed at the center and the perimeter of the store to supply both general lighting and to highlight specific displays. The quality of the diffused UV stable light transmitted by the Wasco skylights protects products from harsh sunlight, provides a high insulating value, an abundance of glare-free, full spectrum light, reduces sound transmission, and gives an R-value approaching that of an exterior wall. Visit www.wascoskylights.com for more information.

SOLAR POWERED “FRESH AIR” SKYLIGHTS  • VELUX

VELUX’s No Leak Solar Powered “Fresh Air” Skylights feature a solar panel that captures daylight to recharge a highly efficient, hidden operator and control system. An integrated moisture sensor closes the skylights in case of rain. The remote controlled venting skylights require no wiring, resulting in an easy and cost effective installation. Both the product and installation qualify for a 30 percent federal tax credit. Watch three short informational/instructional installation videos at www.skylights.com/reroofing, and visit www.veluxusa.com for more details.

LUMIVENT • BILCO COMPANY

The Bilco Company’s Lumivent® is a domed automatic fire vent that provides natural daylight, energy efficiency and the protection of automatic fire venting. The Lumivent features translucent Lexan® Thermoclear® glazing, which maximizes light transmittance, reduces solar heat gain and is surface treated to prevent ultraviolet degradation. The design of the vent gives a sleek look to roofs and its unique multi-wall cover construction provides an increase of over 40 percent in insulation performance compared to traditional domes. It’s designed to open automatically in the event of a fire, allowing smoke, heat and gases to escape from a burning building, and assisting firefighters in their containment efforts.  Visit www.bilco.com for more information.

LIGHTBASIC™ QUICK SHIP™ SINGLE SLOPE SKYLIGHTS  • Major Industries, Inc.
