WASHINGTON —The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) is hosting a moderated panel at IRE featuring steep-slope roofing experts who will discuss the current state of the asphalt shingle industry as well as what lies in store for the future.

Industry leaders and residential roofing experts will focus on the asphalt shingle market with an emphasis on new technology and innovation, product trends, and building codes and installation issues. They will also look ahead at the future of the asphalt roofing industry and what potential issues installers and manufacturers may face in the coming years.

The panel will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Greg Malarkey, senior vice president of Malarkey Roofing and president of ARMA; William Woodring, director of technical services at GAF; and Bert Elliot, residential roofing shingles product manager for Owens Corning, will lead the discussion.

“ARMA is dedicated to not only promoting the asphalt roofing industry but encouraging education and innovation within the industry itself,” said Reed Hitchcock, executive vice president of ARMA, who will moderate the panel. “This panel is a perfect opportunity to bring together industry leaders and discuss the wealth of knowledge we have gained over the last 100 years and what we see coming in the years ahead.”

ARMA is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, making the trade association uniquely poised to lead this industry panel. The association will celebrate its centennial throughout 2015 by looking back on the history of the industry while continuing to forge a successful future for asphalt roofing.
