WASHINGTON — The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA) awarded William “Skip” Leonard, Henry Company, with the Industry Statesman Award at this year’s RCMA Annual Meeting on March 13, 2013 in Orlando, Fla. Leonard is the ninth recipient of this award — a discretionary distinction only designated when deemed appropriate.

The Industry Statesman Award recognizes its honoree for special efforts on behalf of the RCMA in advancing the roof coatings industry, and only on several occasions since the award’s inception in 1994 has the RCMA identified a member deserving of this peer recognition. Award recipients are honored for outstanding interest and activism in promoting the roof coatings industry, and exemplary efforts to achieve significant advancements through the implementation of new technical programming, regulatory or governmental affairs incentives, research activities, technical publications, and RCMA and industry involvement.

“Skip is undoubtedly an expert in the roofing industry with more than 40 years of experience. As a past recipient of the RCMA Martin A. Davis Award and current RCMA vice president, Skip is recognized by his peers and industry professionals for his expertise and willingness to move the Association forward,” RCMA President Jeffrey Blank said.

Leonard joined Henry Company in 1999 as director of technical service. Throughout his tenure, Leonard’s strong technical background has made him an invaluable resource for a variety of activities and projects within the company and the industry. His broad background in roofing, waterproofing and air barriers and his active memberships in RCMA, the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA), RCI, Inc., and the Reflective Roof Coatings Institute (RRCI) make him a strong voice of the industry. Prior to joining Henry Company, Leonard served as regional commercial sales manager for TAMKO Roofing Products, and sales manager at Gulf States Asphalt Company and GS Roofing Products (Flinktkote, Colo.).

Leonard currently serves as a consultant to the Henry Company. Vice president of the RCMA, Leonard was the recipient of the 2010 Martin A. Davis Industry Leadership Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association.
