WASHINGTON – The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association (RCMA), a national trade association representing manufacturers of cold applied protective roof coatings, cements, and suppliers of industry products, recently awarded James “Tim” Nelligan with the Industry Statesman Award at this year’s RCMA Annual Conference and Expo, March 26-30, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Nelligan is the 8th recipient of this award which is only awarded when deemed appropriate through peer recognition.

The Industry Statesman Award honoree is recognized “In appreciation for special efforts on behalf of the Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association in advancing roof coatings industry technology.”

Over the years, RCMA has only on several occasions identified an RCMA member who has deserved this peer recognition through their interests and activism in promoting and their efforts to achieve significant advancements through the implementation of new technical programming, regulatory or governmental affairs incentives, research activities, technical publications, and RCMA and industry involvement.

“Tim Nelligan has been an influential presence in the roof coatings manufacturing industry since well before RCMA’s founding in 1982. A trailblazer at heart, Tim helped build the foundation for this Association, and his leadership and commitment to RCMA have helped define both the organization and the entire industry,” said Reed Hitchcock, executive director, RCMA.

As one of the earliest leaders of the Association, Nelligan provided the "force" to grow, and to expand into government affairs, increased marketing and communications, meeting incentives, membership programs, etc. He served as annual conference chairman, communications chairman, a member of the strategic planning committee, vice president, a member of the board of directors, and president of the Association. Nelligan is also the 1995 Martin A. Davis Industry Leadership Award recipient. The Martin A. Davis Industry Leadership Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association.
