Owens Corning, a global building materials and composite solutions leader, has introduced enhancements for the application of durable built up roofing systems with new TruLo Max Lo Odor, Low-fuming Asphalt.

TOLEDO, Ohio - Owens Corning, a global building materials and composite solutions leader, has introduced enhancements for the application of durable built up roofing systems with new TruLo Max Lo Odor, Low-fuming Asphalt.

TruLo Max is the first-ever asphalt product for built up roofing systems to combine fume suppression at the kettle with low odor on the roof. Not only does it asphalt trap 90 percent of fumes at the kettle, it reduces 55 percent more odor-causing compounds on application - making it easier for roofing contractors to conduct jobs on high-density buildings such as schools, restaurants and hospitals during normal business hours without the disruptive smell.

“While advances have been made to decrease the visible fumes of hot asphalt at the kettle, technologies extending odor reduction on the roof have been lacking,” said Ted Firmin, North American Built Up Roofing Asphalt Business Manager. “Owens Corning TruLo Max asphalt is a win-win-win for roofing contractors, their customers and the environment - significantly reducing the bother of fumes and odors, reducing overtime costs and callbacks, and also reducing the discharge of volatile organic compounds from being released into the air.”

According to National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, the fume reducing skim layers in TruLo Max asphalt help improve air quality by reducing the discharge of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from being released into the air.

With the launch of TruLo Max asphalt, Owens Corning is also introducing TruLo Lo Odor asphalt, which offers the benefit of reduced odor at the kettle and on the roof for every hot asphalt job. When compared to leading competitive low-odor asphalts and additives, it was 45 percent more effective at reducing odor-causing compounds. Both TruLo Max Lo Odor, Lo Fuming asphalt and TruLo Lo Odor asphalt are available at Trumbull distributor locations nationwide.
