WASHINGTON - The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) has announced the results of the association’s prestigious Accident Prevention Contest.

WASHINGTON - The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) has announced the results of the association’s prestigious Accident Prevention Contest. In 2006, 38 facilities improved their ARMA Index from the prior year. The winners of each group receive the Presidents Award, distinguishing them as the top ARMA Accident Prevention Contest facility for the year in their respective categories.

This year, the Presidents Award winners included:

• Group A - Over 300,000 Labor Hours Worked Per Year: GAF Materials Corp., Mobile, Ala.

• Group B - 200,000 to 300,000 Labor Hours Worked Per Year: GAF Materials Corp., Chester, S.C.

• Group C - 100,000 to 200,000 Labor Hours Worked Per Year: Owens Corning, Summit, Ill.

• Group D - Under 100,000 Labor Hours Worked Per Year: Soprema Inc., Wadsworth, Ohio.

The association reports that 22 facilities achieved a perfect ARMA index score for 2006, which is based on no lost and restricted workdays and no reportable OSHA incidents. The winners will be honored at the ARMA board meeting May 23-24.
