Wedge Roofing Celebrates 50 Years of Bay Area Roofing Expertise and Service

Wedge Roofing is celebrating its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of residential and commercial roofing service across Marin, Sonoma, Napa and San Francisco. Founded in 1976 in Marin County. Wedge Roofing has grown into a multiple-award-winning regional contractor providing roof replacement, repair and maintenance, emergency leak response, historic restoration, roof-integrated solar and specialized roofing systems for homeowners, businesses, schools, public agencies, nonprofits, wineries and historic properties.

The milestone reflects a 50-year commitment to technical expertise, customer service, ethical business practices and responsibility for the long-term performance of every roofing project.

The company’s longevity is grounded in the professional standards it helped advance within the roofing trade. Founder Ralph Wedge was a founding and executive member of the Independent Roofing Contractors of California and its Apprenticeship Training Program. He played an instrumental role in establishing the program and served as past president of the Marin Builders Association. Today, Wedge Roofing sponsors every crew member through the 44-month California State Apprenticeship Program, providing a path to journey-level certification and college credit, while members of the Wedge Roofing team serve as classroom and hands-on instructors.

Before work begins, OSHA-trained supervisors inspect each project and establish site-specific safety measures, while project managers oversee scheduling, permits, inspections, property protection and final quality control. This record of workmanship and accountability has earned Wedge Roofing national recognition including the BBB Torch Award for Ethics and Roofing Contractor's Residential Roofing Contractor of the Year honor in 2022, together with sustained community recognition from the Marin Independent Journal, Marin Magazine, NorthBay biz and Nextdoor. Wedge Roofing has also supported the communities it serves through nonprofit partnerships, charitable giving and donated roofing projects for people in need.

Wedge Roofing enters its second half-century under owner and CEO Gary Harvey, who joined the company in 1996, became general manager in 2006 and assumed ownership in 2023. During his three decades with Wedge Roofing, Harvey has expanded the company’s capabilities and developed its Emergency Leak Repair program, deploying trained crews during major storms to stop active leaks and protect homes and businesses from further damage.

The service has been featured in local news coverage and is reinforced by customer accounts of emergency crews arriving within hours or resolving urgent leaks the same day. As Wedge Roofing marks 50 years, the company thanks the customers who have trusted its work across generations, the employees and apprentices who have built its reputation and the industry partners and communities that have supported its growth.
