METALCON 2026 Builds the Industry's Future Today

METALCON expands education, networking and workforce programs for metal construction professionals.

As the metal construction industry continues to evolve, METALCON is broadening its educational and networking offerings to help develop the next generation of industry professionals.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the annual trade show returns to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Oct. 7-9, with new programming aimed at women, emerging professionals and Spanish-speaking attendees. Organizers say the additions reflect the industry's changing workforce while reinforcing METALCON's long-standing role as a gathering place for contractors, manufacturers, architects, engineers, fabricators, suppliers and installers.

"The workforce is changing, and successful companies are adapting alongside it," said Judy Geller, vice president of trade shows for METALCON. "Events like this provide opportunities to build careers, strengthen leadership and connect professionals across every segment of the metal construction market."

One of the show's biggest additions is "FORGE: Where Women in Metal Shape What's Next," a new half-day leadership event scheduled for Oct. 6, the day before the exhibit hall opens. Expanding on previous women's programming, FORGE will feature keynote speaker Rita Goodroe, panel discussions with women leaders from across the industry and networking opportunities designed to encourage mentorship and professional growth.

METALCON is also introducing a dedicated Spanish-language education track for 2026. The new programming includes educational sessions presented in Spanish and hands-on demonstrations in the METALCON Training Zone, presented by MetalVue. Led by John Sheridan of Sheridan Metal Resources and a team of experienced trainers, the demonstrations will focus on installation techniques, detailing, tool usage and best practices using materials such as painted steel, aluminum, zinc and copper.

The move recognizes the growing role Spanish-speaking professionals play throughout the construction workforce while making technical education more accessible.

Early-career professionals will also find expanded opportunities throughout the event. METALCON continues to build programming around career development with events including its 40 Under 40 Recognition Program, Future Leaders Happy Hour, Speed Networking sessions and educational workshops that connect attendees directly with manufacturers, contractors, architects, designers and other decision-makers.

For newcomers to the industry, that level of access can provide relationships and insights that often take years to develop.

The expanded programming reflects broader workforce trends affecting construction, where recruiting skilled labor, retaining employees and preparing future leaders have become priorities for companies across the supply chain. METALCON organizers believe trade shows have an important role in addressing those challenges by bringing together education, product innovation and face-to-face networking under one roof.

Beyond workforce development, attendees will also have access to hundreds of exhibitors representing more than 40 categories of metal construction products and services, offering an opportunity to evaluate new technologies, materials and installation solutions in one location.

"As we celebrate 35 years, our greatest investment isn't just in products or technology—it's in the people who will lead this industry forward," Geller said.

Registration for METALCON 2026 is now open. The event will be held Oct. 7-9 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. More information is available at metalcon.com.
