SikaShield Membrane Helps Roofers Manage Changing Weather
SikaShield HB79 combines APP and SBS technologies in a modified bitumen membrane for U.S. roofing applications

Sika Corporation’s Roofing & Waterproofing division has launched its SikaShield modified bitumen roofing brand in the U.S. market, along with SikaShield HB79, a hybrid modified bitumen membrane.
The membrane combines APAO, a type of APP polymer, with SBS asphaltic membrane technology in one sheet. According to Sika, the APAO top layer is designed for heat resistance and durability, while the SBS bottom layer provides elongation, cold-weather flexibility and adhesion to the substrate.
SikaShield HB79 is intended for buildings in regions with seasonal temperature changes and for projects where roofs may see heavy foot traffic during and after installation. The membrane is reinforced with polyester and glass fiber to support strength, elongation, tear resistance and dimensional stability.
