Chicago Roofing Community Mourns Loss of Charlie Williams
The 26-year-old Tidwell Roofing & Sheet Metal apprentice is remembered for his generosity, craftsmanship and passion for helping others.

The Chicago roofing community and the Chicago Roofing Contractors Association are mourning the loss of Charles “Charlie” Williams, who passed away on May 19 at the age of 26. Williams was learning the sheet metal trade at Tidwell Roofing & Sheet Metal, a longtime CRCA member company, and was known for his strong work ethic, generosity and willingness to help others.
A 2018 graduate of York High School, he developed an early passion for mechanical repair and construction, working on small engines and go-karts before entering the roofing industry. Remembered as kind, charismatic and eager to share his knowledge, Williams loved cars, tools, music and fishing, and found peace and happiness at Perch Lake with family and friends.
