The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration will host a free webinar on April 8 to help employers prepare for upcoming safety stand-down events.

The session will support participation in the Georgia Struck-by Alliance’s annual Safety Stand-Down, held during National Work Zone Awareness Week, scheduled for April 20–24. Employers use stand-downs to pause work and focus on training and education to prevent workplace injuries and fatalities.

OSHA officials will provide compliance assistance resources, outline consultation services and share information about the agency’s Safety Champions Program. The webinar will also offer guidance on organizing stand-down events and registering for workplace safety certificates.

Representatives from the department’s Wage and Hour Division will discuss tools related to the Family and Medical Leave Act and Fair Labor Standards Act, including updates to the PAID program for resolving potential violations.

• National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction (May 4-8)
• Construction Safety Week (May 4-8)
• Mental Health Awareness Month (throughout May)
• National Heat Awareness Day (May 29)
