A former roofing contractor in New Hampshire has been sentenced on two felony charges and a misdemeanor related to stealing $212,394 in deposits from customers, according to Attorney General John Formella.
A news release from the New Hampshire Office of the Attorney General states Gerard Michael Healey, 57, has been sentenced on a class A felony count of Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, a class A felony count of Theft by Misapplication of Property, and a class A misdemeanor count of violating an injunction issued under the New Hampshire Consumer Protection Act.
The charges stem from his conduct while serving as the owner of Pinnacle Metal Roofing, a roofing company formerly located in Meredith, N.H. Healey stole $212,394 in deposits from 23 victims who provided those deposits as prepayments for roofing work on their houses that he didn't perform.
Along with the thefts, Healey took and kept 19 of the deposits in criminal violation of a consent judgment he entered into with the Department of Justice's Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau in 2017.
In October 2024, Healey pleaded guilty to the charges in the Belknap County Superior Court. The court sentenced him to serve four-and-a-half to 10 years in state prison for the Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer charge, and seven-and-a-half to15 years, fully suspended, for the Theft by Misapplication of Property charge, with the suspended sentence to end 10 years from his release on the Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer charge.
On the misdemeanor count of violating an injunction issued under the CPA, he was sentenced to serve one year in the House of Corrections, fully suspended, with the suspended sentence to end two years from his release on the Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer charge.
According to reporting from the Laconia Daily Sun, Healey was indicted on Nov. 17 with the aforementioned charges. The thefts occurred in Meredith and other locations throughout the county.
