OSHA has hit the news again recently as they once again have delayed enforcement of their new rule on fall protection with regard to roofing and specifically the elimination of the slide-guard rule.

The good news about the many issues we face in the roofing industry is that we will overcome most of them in time. I know because I have seen a lot of them come and go.

Awesome is in the mind of the attender. For this attendee (for full disclosure, a stakeholder in the operation), it was the best trade-show and educational seminar experience in recent memory.

A recent survey of Roofing Contractor readers revealed page upon page of interesting stats about how our readers go about doing their business. 

We received a press release from Follansbee Steel last week that explained how they are in negotiations with one or more buyers who would potentially come in and keep the operation going.

While it is not routine for me to use this space to tell you about other editorial features in the magazine, I just cannot contain my enthusiasm over our annual State of the Industry Report.  

This may not be the typical feature you will find in Roofing Contractor, but it is about providing shelter. 

It was appropriate that the passing of Steve Jobs would provoke such an enormous response by way of his biography by Walter Isaacson.

Probably the last bit of news I expected to hear last week was that Follansbee Steel was shutting down. 

 Welcome to the New Year! Some in the roofing industry had a 2011 to look back on and cheer and others are glad it has mercifully ended.
