Cornerstone Building Brands, Inc. announced Tuesday that it had appointed Marcia Avedon, Ph.D., to its board of directors; effective April 1, Avedon will serve on the Board’s Compensation Committee.

Avedon is the CEO of Avedon Advisory, LLC, which she founded in 2022, according to a March 26 news release from Cornerstone announcing her ascension to the board. Previously, Avedon served as executive vice president and Chief Human Resources, Marketing and Communications Officer for Trane Technologies.

From 2007 to 2020, she held senior leadership positions at Ingersoll-Rand, including serving as Executive Vice President, Human Resources, Communications and Corporate Affairs. Earlier in her career, Avedon held executive positions in human resources at Merck & Company, Honeywell International and Anheuser-Busch Companies.

“Marcia’s depth and breadth of both corporate leadership and board experience in leadership development, talent and succession management, executive compensation, organizational development, corporate governance, brand building, operations and sustainability make her a particularly strong addition to our Cornerstone Building Brands board of directors,” said Rose Lee, Cornerstone’s president and Chief Executive Officer. 

Since 2022, Avedon has served on the board of directors at Acuity Brands, including as a member of its compensation and management development committee. She has also served on the board of Generac Holdings since 2019, including as chair of the human capital and compensation committee. Marcia previously served on the boards of directors of GCP Applied Technologies and Lincoln National Corporation.
